For the Smart FOX project, the so-called Safeguard was developed. This is a gateway for anonymizing and pseudonymizing health data. The Safeguard uses tools such as MaLaC-HD and EUPID to retrieve, process, and securely store original health data in a FOX BOX.

An Implementation Guide (IG) was created for the Safeguard. This is based on a slightly modified IHE MHD-Profil. In the IG, the Consent resource was additionally included as an entry-level element to account for patient consent.
